Who Is at Risk of Developing Uremia?

Studies show that people with chronic kidney disease are at a higher risk of developing uremia. Chronic kidney disease may occur due to problems within the kidneys or more general conditions. In the United States of America, chronic kidney disease is mostly caused by:

  • Glomerulonephritis (GN) (damage to the filters in the kidneys)
  • Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) (caused by cysts)
