Uremia: Causes, Symptoms, Complications & Treatments

Complications

Complications for uremia may range from mild to severe. If it is not treated using transplant or dialysis, it can eventually lead to death. However, studies show that some complications may still occur even when you are being treated with dialysis. There are certain complications that may affect people who are on dialysis at a higher rate than the general population. Complications associated with uremia include:

  • Heart attacks as a cause of death
  • Severe itching from the imbalance of minerals
  • Cardiovascular issues
  • Amyloidosis, a rare condition that causes your joints to be painful and stiff and retain fluid
  • Depression

It’s imperative to speak with your doctor mif you develop any complications. Follow the treatment plan created by your doctor. This will help reduce or completely eliminate the complications.
