Symptoms of varicose veins

A varicose vein that is blue or purple and located just beneath the skin’s surface is the most identifiable symptom of varicose veins. A few symptoms are:
- Veins that bulge: Blue or purple veins are frequently twisted, bulging, and rope-like. On your legs, ankles, and feet, they show up just beneath the skin’s surface. They may form groups as they grow. Nearby, tiny red or blue lines, spider veins, may show up.
- Legs that feel heavy: After engaging in physical exercise, your legs may feel drained, heavy, or sluggish.
- Itching: The skin near varicose veins may become itchy.
- Pain: Your legs, particularly the area behind your knees, may hurt, ache, or feel sore. Muscle cramps could be plaguing you.
- Throbbing and swollen legs, ankles, and feet are possible.
- Untreated varicose veins can result in dark spots on the skin and ulcers. Severe varicose veins can cause venous ulcers (sore) on your skin.
Varicose veins typically appear in the lower body, most commonly on the calves, ankles, and feet. Pelvic congestion syndrome is another location where they might appear, particularly in postpartum women. Infertility may result from varicocele, or varicose veins in the testicles.
