What is Preterm Premature rupture of membranes (PPROM)?

Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) [3] is when your water breaks while your pregnancy is not up to 37 weeks; this could be a severe issue.

PPROM occurs in about 3 percent of pregnancies in the US, and about 30 percent of preterm births result from PPROM.

The exact cause of PPROM is also unknown. Some possible risk factors include:

  • If you experienced PPROM in your last pregnancy
  • Your cervix is if shirt length
