Most Common Breastfeeding Problems and Solutions

Mastitis

Mastitis [1] is the inflammation or swelling of the breast tissue and it is mostly referred to as breast infection. It is also a soreness or a lump in the mammary gland. It mostly occurs in one breast and develops during the first 3 months of child delivery. The symptoms include fatigue, redness or tenderness, pains, and anxiety [2]. Some of the causes include:

  • Blocked milk duct
  • Bacteria in the breast
  • Nipple piercing.

Solution: try to get a lot of rest, make use of a warm compress for ease, inform a medical doctor and get a prescribed antibiotic for the infection, and wear a proper-fitting bra to reduce the milk ducts.
