Nursing strike
A nursing strike [5] occurs when the baby has been feeding well for months but starts refusing the breast all of a sudden. This may arise from various causes like
- Cold or stuffy nose
- Reaction to stress or overstimulation
- Mouth pain from teething
- distractions
Solution: try to breastfeed while rocking the baby in a quiet place to avoid distractions, focus on the baby and comfort him or her, and try another feeding method temporarily while trying to get a solution.

Breastfeeding can be a handful for new mothers due to certain problems that arise during this period. It is important to know the various issues that can arise such as too much milk supply, breast engorgement, soreness of the nipple, lack of milk supply, breast infection and many more. Most of the problems are treatable at home, some of the treatments include proper positioning, proper latch on, and wearing of well-fitted clothes. It is however advised to visit the doctor if the symptoms persist.
