Conclusion

Perimenopause is the transitional phase into menopause. Its symptoms closely resemble menopause. Hormonal changes are happening but menstruation is still on, however irregular. It ends when menstruation ceases for over 12 months. Premenopause is the normal reproductive period before all this begins. There are no special symptoms. It’s common to find people refer to perimenopause as premenopause but this is not a medical term.
