This condition does not have a particular cure or treatment. However, the best way to treat this condition is to avoid diabetes. In the case of an individual being a victim of this health condition, it is important to properly treat type 1 diabetes before getting pregnant. Type 1 diabetes can be treated by the following:
- Insulin: the major treatment for type 1 diabetes is the intake of insulin. Insulin can either be taken by injection or in some individuals the use of an insulin pump. Individuals with this condition must check their blood sugar levels daily in order to know the amount of insulin to take in and prevent further complications.
- Medication: oral medications such as Metformin [5] which helps to lower the production of sugar in the liver has been approved to treat type diabetes. It was initially used for type 2 diabetes. It has been noticed that some individuals become insulin resistant as time passes by. Doctors prescribe this drug alongside insulin.
- Lifestyle changes: this involves eating well-balanced foods, exercising regularly, and avoiding living a sedentary lifestyle. This prevents the glucose level from storing and increases diabetes.
