Baby Heat Rash: Types, Duration, Treatment & More

Miliaria profunda

This type of rash affects the deepest layer of skin (the dermis). In infants and young children, it’s extremely uncommon. Under the skin, pockets of fluid are created when sweat seeps from the glands.

There are no visible or red lumps; they are skin-colored. Compared to the lumps from other types of heat rash, they are typically significantly larger and more durable. Although it can seem less severe, the consequences could be more severe.

Miliaria rubra

This is a red bumpy rash that affects the mid-epidermis, a thicker layer of the outer skin. Because the skin lumps on Miliaria rubra can be painful, the condition is frequently dubbed prickly heat [2]. They may also itch or sting.

Heat rash of the Miliaria rubra kind is the most prevalent. The rash may hurt and make you uncomfortable. Babies may get agitated as it heals.

Pustules may occasionally form on the miliaria rubra. Miliaria pustulosa is the name given to this variant of the illness.
