How are they related?
Currently, it is unknown whether hepatitis C and NHL are directly related. Researchers believe one of two options, though.
A 2019 study [2] found that persistent hepatitis C infections cause immunological dysfunction and B-cells to multiply quickly, which ultimately results in cell malignancies. When cells divide uncontrollably, they are said to be malignant and may invade other cells.
It’s possible that B-cells take the virus inside of them, which would turn some cells into tumor cells. Lesions of cancer form as a result of this.
Another hypothesis postulates that disorders of the lymphoid tissue, such as lymphoma, may be brought on by an imbalance of cytokines. A family of proteins known as cytokines aids in controlling your body’s immunological response.
