What Fills the Cavity after a Hysterectomy?

What Happens to Your Eggs?

If your ovaries are not removed during your hysterectomy, their functions and efficiency will not be affected. That is, they will not stop releasing eggs and hormones. However, you might experience a mild reduction in the synthesis of hormones. Your ovary produces one egg per month, and in most cases, the egg migrates into your abdomen and disappears after a while.

Women who undergo the procedure before reaching menopause may not have their period after. This is because the uterus is not present to remove its lining. However, since your body is still releasing hormones, you may still experience symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) [4]. Some women experience an ectopic pregnancy, a condition where implantation [5] occurs in the fallopian tube, after a hysterectomy.
