Meat offers a great amount of energy dense protein. It is highly proteinous and can help repair worn out tissues. However, other factors play significant roles in determining the nutritional quality of meat. For example, meat that is not cooked properly or has skin are known to increase triglycerides level in the blood. Dieticians advise people to stay from meats that still have their skin on such as crispy duck or chicken wings. Studies show that organ meats such as liver also contain high amounts of cholesterol. In fact, a tiny 3oz of liver is known to contain about 419 milligrams of cholesterol, which is 140% of your daily recommended value.
There are other better options if you want to eat meat. For example, you can go for lean cuts of meat such as a breast of chicken instead of a thigh or leg of chicken. It is important to cut the fat off your portions of meat, remove the skin and try to have one or two days to consume only vegetarians if you want to reduce your lipid levels.
