Common Signs of a Fever and When to See a Doctor

A doctor’s attention is needed when a child feels;

  • irritable, repeatedly vomits, Constant headaches, stomachaches, or any other symptom that leads to immense discomfort
  • increase in temperature that persists longer than three days
  • increase in temperature after coming out of a hot car. Seek medical attention quickly
  • listless and has poor eye contact when talking to someone else.

Medical attention is needed when an adult has a temperature higher than 103F (39.4C). See a doctor when any of these signs or symptoms are observed;

  • serious headache
  • abnormal skin rash, especially if the rash worsens
  • mental confusion
  • persistent vomiting
  • convulsion or seizures
  • chest pain or breathing difficulties(dyspnea)
  • pains in the abdomen when urinating
  • stiff neck and pain when the head is bent forward
