The Symptoms of Salmonella Infection

Fever

A fever is an abnormal increase in body temperature that often accompanies infections. It happens as the immune system responds to a pathogen or other harmful foreign material in the body. People with salmonella infections may experience a fever because of the body’s immunological reaction to the causal bacteria.

You should monitor your fever if you develop one when you have a salmonella infection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) [10] recommends seeing a doctor if your body temperature rises above 102˚F or 39˚C.

Chills

You may have chills [11] if you are infected with salmonella. This may happen along with the fever. This symptom is marked by a feeling of being cold, even though your environment may be warm. The perceived cold causes you to experience chills and sometimes physically shiver in response.
