Nausea And Vomiting

Gastrointestinal infections like salmonella often trigger symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or both [9]. If you feel sick to your stomach like you are about to throw up, you have nausea. Sometimes this leads to actual vomiting, but this is not always the case.
Vomiting involves expelling some of the contents of your stomach through your mouth. The medical term for this is emesis. Most times people vomit food they have eaten along with fluids. If you vomit a lot, you may end up losing a lot of body fluids and become dehydrated. You can deal with this by consuming a lot of water and electrolytes to make up for what you have lost. This does not work for people with severe vomiting because they cannot keep even this water down. In such cases, doctors usually rehydrate the patients via intravenous drips.
