What are the side effects of Atorvastatin?

Like every prescribed medication, Atorvastatin has its side effects. The side effects may be serious or mild.  You should get urgent medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction to atorvastatin, such as swelling of your throat, tongue, lips, or face, breathing troubles, and hives.

You should visit your doctor if you experience any of the following disorders:

  • Muscle weakness in your shoulders, back, neck, and hips
  • Liver problems: loss of appetite, tired feeling, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin), fatigue, or upper stomach pain
  • Kidney problems – little or no urinating, swelling in your feet or ankles, feeling tired or short of breath.
  • Trouble lifting your arms, trouble climbing or standing

These side effects are common in people who use atorvastatin:

  • Pain in your arms or legs.
  • Joint pain
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea [6]
