Some medications have certain ingredients that are capable of increasing your heart rate or blood pressure. Examples of such drugs include; NSAIDs [6] such as ibuprofen, cough-and-cold drugs and diet pills. Inform your doctor of all the drugs you are using currently and ask if you should continue to use them or not. However, you can take propranolol with most vitamins and supplements but it might not be safe to take with some like St. John’s Wort. This drug should not be taken with alcohol. Alcohol increases blood levels of propanol, which may lead to complications. Also, the intake of excess caffeine should be avoided because it can increase blood pressure levels and anxiety. Always consult your doctor before taking any additional medication to prevent these drug interactions from happening.
