Tresiba: Uses, Dosage, and Side Effects

How to Use Tresiba

Tresiba should only be used as prescribed by your doctor. Make sure you follow every direction on your prescription label and read all medication guides. Always use the drug as directed by your doctor.

Your doctor administers tresiba beneath the skin once every day. The drug can be taken at any time of the day. Your doctor will teach you how to use the drug on your own.

Tresiba is usually administered with an insulin pump. It can also be mixed with other insulins. Read and follow the instructions carefully. Ask your healthcare provider if you don’t understand any instructions on the prescription label.

You can check your dose in units with a dose counter placed on the injection pen. Use your dose in the units displayed on the counter. Children with a dose less than 5 units per day can use the U-100 vial.

Avoid injecting tresiba into your skin if it is damaged, soft, bruised, thickened, scaly, pitted, or has a hard lump. Sharing injection pens can increase your chances of having an infection.
