Diagnosis of Guillain-Bare Syndrome

The doctor might find it a little challenging to diagnose Guillain-Bare Syndrome, especially if it is still in its early stage; the signs and symptoms vary and are similar to several other disorders. However, there are some symptoms combination the doctor would ask the patient about that could make him know if it’s a Guillain-Bare Syndrome. The doctor may also conduct a different test to arrive at a conclusive decision on whether or not it is Guillain-Bare Syndrome.

The different tests to help diagnose Guillain-Bare Syndrome include:

  • Physical examination
  • Muscle activity test and muscle strength test
  • Nerve conduction velocity [4] (NCV). This measures the nerve ability to send a signal
  • Reflex test
  • Spinal tap
