Symptoms of Marfan Syndrome

Heart Murmurs

When the heart is in great condition, it makes two healthy sounds; a lub-dub sound, Heart murmurs occur when the sound of blood flowing through the valves in the heart and an extra sound is heard, this extra sound is caused by abnormal blood flow via the valves (bicuspid and tricuspid) in the heart and faulty heart valves. Heart murmurs could be a normal occurrence in healthy children, but as they age, the sounds disappear. Murmurs that are heard under normal conditions are called an innocent murmur. In Marfan syndrome, the aortic roots widen, and the Aorta comes in contact with the aortic valve.
