Anemia due to Decrease in Red Blood Cell Production
Certain factors cause a decrease in red blood cells’ production, which ultimately causes a condition called anemia. Here are some of the major causes:
Low dietary intake of vitamin B-12, folate, or iron: The body needs vitamin B-12 to produce red blood cells, which transport oxygen through the body. Moreover, it’s also imperative for individuals to consume foods that contain folic acids. Examples of high folic acid foods include eggs, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and legumes. Iron is found in seafood, beans, peas, and dry foods like raisins.
Hypothyroidism: This condition is due to depression of bone marrow. Usually, patients with hypothyroidism have a decreased mass of erythrocyte due to the drop in plasma volume. It may also be undetectable by regular measurements like hemoglobin concentration. 
- It can be caused by inadequate stimulation of red blood cells by erythropoietin, which is a hormone produced by the human kidneys.
