Social Difficulties

Social Difficulties are commonly seen in people with autism [1]. Parents and teachers may observe that young autistics have problems communicating with their peers. These symptoms of high-functioning autism in children and teenagers are a small social circle, problems sharing toys or materials, and difficulty finishing group work. Sometimes youth are seen as shy, quirky, or socially awkward when they are truly dealing with autism and in need of counseling services to help them learn social rules, as the problems with interacting with others usually start from a lack of understanding of appropriate behavior with peers. Early treatment from mental health professionals can help autistic youth learn the best ways to communicate with their classmates and potential friends.
