Gastrointestinal Diseases

GI diseases are conditions that affect the gastrointestinal tract. Organs in the gastrointestinal tract are the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. If there is a problem with the normal functioning of any of these organs, it may reflect on your stool as your stool can take a black or maroon color.
If any of these organs start to bleed, you are likely to pass blood from your rectum during defecation. [4] You tend to see some blood on your toilet bowl or your toilet tissue after passing stool. Bleeding from the anus or rectum is usually bright red.
