Ice Your Elbow

Place ice packs on your elbow to reduce inflammation and pain. Applying ice directly on your skin can damage the cells in the region. You can wrap the ice in a cloth or a towel. Hold the ice pack in place for about 15 to 20 minutes at a time, 3 or 4 times a day. You can apply frozen peas instead of an ice pack, because they hold the cold well and you can mold the bag to any shape.
Over-the-Counter Pain Relievers
You can take over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers, such as ibuprofen ( Advil, Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve). These drugs help reduce pain by improving inflammation. Ensure you follow the instructions provided by your doctor to avoid side effects, such as nausea. If the pain does not stop after using the drug for a few days, speak to your healthcare provider about prescription strength formulations of OTC pain relievers.
