Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune disorders are usually accompanied by inflammation in the sacroiliac joints. In fact, studies show that they are the first symptoms of autoimmune disorders, such as arthritis, [3] psoriasis, [4] and ankylosing spondylitis.
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Sacroiliitis may occur due to common inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s disease [5] and ulcerative colitis. [6]
Infection
Fungal, viral, or bacterial infections are common causes of inflammation in the sacroiliac joints. They are known to trigger inflammatory responses in the joints. Bacteria infection can cause pyogenic sacroiliitis, a rare condition that is responsible for acute inflammatory responses in the joints.
Arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis is a form of arthritis that affects the spine. It can lead to stiffness and inflammation of the spine. In most cases, the inflammation will lead to sacroiliac joint fusion and erosion, and cause permanent damage. It can also prevent you from performing a certain range of movements. Other types of arthritis that can cause inflammation in the sacroiliac joint are psoriatic, osteoarthritis, and reactive arthritis.
