Symptoms of Bone Spurs in the Neck

In most cases, bone spurs in the neck may not show any visible symptoms at first. But the more it grows and gets bigger, you may notice swelling in the neck, tenderness and a visible lump.

These symptoms may still not cause any pain. Still, as it progresses, they can cause more severe symptoms that may then start to affect your quality of life by making one unable to move in specific directions and causing pain not only in that area but also in other parts of the body. You should immediately seek medical help if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Muscle spasm that may radiate to your shoulders
  • Pain that extends from the bottom of your neck to your head
  • Stiffness and not being able to move the joints in Your Neck
  • Chronic dull pain
  • Numbness and tingling sensation that may extend to your arms and hands

If you experience any of the symptoms and there is a suspicion of a bone spur in your neck, your doctor will most likely recommend imaging tests, such as X-rays. With this, you can confirm any excess bone growing in your neck region along your cervical spine.
