Fluids & Rest

The body loses water and electrolytes when battling malaria, so water and liquid foods like juices, stew, soups, and teas are necessary to stay hydrated [8]. The infected person must increase his or her daily water intake to make up for the fluid losses from the body. At least three liters of water and fluids is recommended daily.
Fluids will help to flush the majority of the toxins from the body through urine and feces, aiding recovery.
Rest is crucial for invalids because the body is at its weakest point. It is medically- recommended for patients suffering from serious diseases like malaria to be on bed rest until the immune system returns to normal. It also allows the treatments and medicines to take effect, speeding up the recovery process. For persons suffering from malaria attacks occurring at intervals, the time in-between attacks, shouldn’t be spent doing strenuous activities. Extended hours for resting and sleeping are important until the parasite clears.
