Congenital cyst & Lipoma
Congenital cysts are cysts that develop before you are born. They are usually diagnosed at a young age. There are several types of congenital cyst and those that may form on the neck causing a movable lump are:
- Dermoid cyst
- Branchial cleft cyst
- Thyroglossal duct cyst
These cysts are not cancerous but they can cause serious complications if not treated at an early stage.
Lipomas are as a result of an overgrowth of fat cells and are benign. Lipoma in the neck is not painful, shaped like a dome, under the skin, soft, and movable. They are usually nothing to worry about unless they push on sensitive tissue.
