Reasons for Facial Pain

Sinusitis

Sinuses are small hollow areas near the cheekbones, the nose, and forehead. Sinusitis is the term used when the nasal sinuses get infected, usually when they get inflamed. You experience symptoms like pain and pressure around the nose and forehead, and the swelling nose causes a stuffy and runny nose. The symptoms of sinusitis are very similar to that of migraines. Since migraine is a more common cause of facial pain, you could mistake sinusitis for migraine.

Except you experience other symptoms like fever, colored snot, pain around the cheek, and a lessened sense of smell, these symptoms are peculiar to sinusitis. If rightly diagnosed, it can be treated with rest, pain medication, and antibiotic if necessary.
