Decongestants & Nasal sprays

Allergic rhinitis often makes your nose stuffy. This symptom is very uncomfortable, but it can be relieved by decongestants [7]. This type of medication makes your nose less stuffy and improves breathing. Decongestants are available in both oral and nasal forms. Oral decongestants include pseudoephedrine drugs like Afrinol and Sudafed. Nasal decongestants include phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine) and oxymetazoline (Afrin). You should not use nasal decongestants for more than a few days successively. If you do, you risk worsening the congestion in your nose. Cromolyn sodium nasal sprays [8] are more preventive in their function. If you think you may be exposed to allergens that will trigger your symptoms, you should go out with a nasal spray. They work best when used before your symptoms start. Nasal sprays do not cause any serious side effects.
