Signs And Symptoms of Head Lice

Small Red Bumps on Scalp or Neck

Head lice are blood-sucking parasites. They typically draw blood from your scalp, but they may wander towards surrounding areas like your neck and feed there too. When these lice feed, the skin gets irritated as they perforate it to draw blood. This causes the area to become raised and red in appearance [6]. Sometimes the appearance of these red bumps is triggered by scratching.

It may not be easy to tell if you have small red bumps on your scalp, except if the spots are near the edges or you have recently had a fade. Spots on the neck and ears are a lot easier to notice and are a good indicator of an infestation, especially in children.
