Causes of Spondyloarthritis

The exact cause of spondyloarthritis is still unknown, but genetics may play a role. HLA-B27 [6] is the primary gene responsible for all forms of spondyloarthritis.
Although the disorder is not caused by the HLA-B27 gene, it can raise your risk of getting it. The role of other genes in the development of spondyloarthritis is also beingstudied .
Some research, suggests a connection between spondyloarthritis or other inflammatory disorders and an unbalanced microbiota. More study is needed to fully understand the connection between gut bacteria and systemic inflammation.
Reactive arthritis is the only type of spondyloarthritis that is known to be triggered by bacterial infections. It typically develops following chlamydia or a food-borne infection.
