When to visit a doctor

Piriformis syndrome may vary from mild to severe. There are some signs to watch out for that would require you to immediately call your doctor or visit the hospital, they include:
- If you trip or fall frequently because of pain or numbness.
- If you are experiencing pain that lasts longer than a few weeks, especially if you’ve been following instructions and adjusting your lifestyle and there is no progress.
- If you are experiencing problems involving your bowels (pooping) or bladder (peeing).
- If you start to feel sudden, severe pain in your lower back or leg.
- If you are experiencing sudden weakness or numbness in your back or leg.
- Trauma or injury to your back, hip or leg.
- Difficulty raising your foot up from the floor.
