Depression or Sadness

Depression is another sign of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Depression is a feeling of sadness, loss, despair, or hopelessness that interferes with daily life. A TBI can prompt depression; about half of the people that suffer from TBI experience depression as a symptom. It usually occurs within the first year after the injury. Along with depression comes anxiety [4] in the case of concussion.
Other common symptoms of concussion include:
- Being irritable or nervous
- Dizziness [5]
- Fatigue
- Sensitivity to light and noise
- Sluggishness
- Problem with sleep
- Slurred speech
- Confusion [6]
