Do Seizures Cause Brain Damage?

According to Research

Most of the research done on the effect of seizures on the brain are focused on focal, or localized, seizures, particularly those affecting the lobe. And the most common type of focal epilepsy in adults is temporal lobe epilepsy [2].

People that have temporal lobe epilepsy would experience some issues with their memory and cognitive functions. Also, about one-third of people that have temporal lobe epilepsy, seizures do not resolve after starting antiseizure medications. We will discuss some popular research done on seizures and its effect in the brain, most of it focussing on temporal lobe epilepsy.
