Top 8 Signs & Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy

Seizures

Epilepsy is the most common disorder associated with cerebral palsy (CP). The coexistence of these two conditions occurs in up to 50% of children with CP according to the studies. Due to brain damage, seizures may occur in CP kids. Injury in the brain may lead to sudden and abnormal nerve transmissions which cause patients to lose consciousness and convulse. The symptoms of seizures in CP patients include stiffness, convulsions, muscle spasms, eye rolls, and muscle contractions. Seizures may be life-threatening; hence, it requires immediate medical attention. And research has shown that up to the average number of kids suffering from CP may experience re-occurring seizures. Because CP and epilepsy coexist at a relatively high rate, parents should pay more attention to their children’s condition and seek professional help. [8]
