Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) – Mini Stroke Warning Signs

Inability to Recognize the Disease Itself (Anosognosia)

Using simple language, anosognosia is a symptom that reflects a person’s inability to recognize that he has a disease or a health problem.

The greatest difficulty in dealing with anosognosia is that the patient assumes that they are alright, as they cannot see that there’s an illness and so refuse to facilitate treatment.

The person does, for example, assume that he/she doesn’t have motor limitations and risks of walking, thereby suffering from constant accidents. Anosognosia is precisely this difficulty in becoming aware of a disease. The patients therefore doesn’t treat the disease and it progressively get worse. This is especially dangerous in the case of TIA as it can eventually lead to stroke.
