How Is Meningitis B Contracted?
Meningitidis, the bacteria that causes meningitis B is not transmitted through brief contact, rather it is spread through infected secretion from the back of the throat. Close contact with a person who has this infection puts you at risk, as well as living close to someone that has the condition.
Certain activities from someone who has meningitis B can put you at risk of this infection. Example of such activities include:
- Kissing
- Coughing and sneezing
- Having a prolonged conversion
- Sharing e-cigarettes and vapes
- Sharing lipstick and other mouth accessories
- Sharing spoons or cups
Meningitis can happen to anyone of any age. But most cases occur in teenagers and young adults. Immunocompromised people are also more vulnerable to the disease.
