Treatment for sensory processing disorder

There is no standard treatment for sensory issues or sensory processing disorder. However, some therapy options may help.
Physical therapy
A physical therapist can help by developing a sensory diet. This is a regimen of activities that are made to satisfy the need for sensory input. This can include running in a place or doing jumping jacks. Additional supports like weighted or sensory vests or scheduled sensory breaks may also help.
Occupational therapy
Due to sensory difficulties, an occupational therapist can assist a kid in practicing or learning tasks they often avoid. To better meet a child’s sensory demands in the classroom, therapists may collaborate with the child’s teacher while they are in school.
