What Is Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)?

Sensory integration therapy

Sensory integration therapy involves both occupational and physical therapy.  [7]

This approach is designed to help children learn ways they can respond to their senses appropriately. It’s to help them understand ways their experiences differ so they can figure out a more typical response.

Although there are results of people being helped by sensory integration therapy, its effectiveness has not been proven yet.

Does insurance cover treatment?

The treatment for sensory processing disorder may not be covered by insurance because it is not a recognized medical condition. To find out if therapy, like occupational therapy, may be covered by your insurance, check it out with your provider.

Treatment for another diagnosed ailment that your kid has as a result of sensory processing difficulties may be reimbursed by insurance. Depending on your exact plan, coverage may vary, so make sure to confirm this with your insurance company.
