8 Common Hip Bursitis Symptoms

Discomfort When Moving

The discomfort of movement and pain when walking, standing, and sitting are also very common, not to mention that staying in the same position for long periods of time can also worsen the pain. This discomfort can get worse over time after a prolonged repetitive hip movement such as going up and down the stairs, walking for a longer period of time, or jogging. These activities may lead to the overuse or injury to the joint areas, especially when doing the extreme range of motion, such as during extreme rotation – using the hip to move the leg past the center midline of the body, or using the hip to move the leg away from the body. Adduction can cause pain when hip bursitis is caused by a tight IT band, and abduction can relieve pain, particularly during a medical exam in which the doctor moves the leg of the patient (passive motion).
