8 Common Hip Bursitis Symptoms

Radiating Pain & Touching Pain

The main symptom of hip bursitis is hip joint pain, which usually extends to the outside of the thigh area. This often confusing the patient, who thinks that the problem may be in another location.  In the early stages, the pain is usually localized mainly on the area of the lower hip with intense and sharp feelings. As time passes, the pain may become more intense and spread to a larger area around the hip joint. It may radiate to other areas in the body, such as the buttock, groin, or lower back, and may spread toward the knee from the outside of the thigh. Under normal circumstances, the pain is more obvious at night, especially when lying on the affected side of the hip joint or when the patients stand up from the chair after sitting for a period of time. Besides, touch pain would occur in bursitis. The patient may experience pain often when touching the swollen area, this happens during the entire inflammatory process and also during the patient’s daily activities. [5]
