There are several screening choices, and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Your doctor will discuss with you on the approach that is best for you depending on your condition.

There are majorly two types of screening recommended for colorectal cancer:

  • Stool sample test
  • Visual screening procedures (such as colonoscopy and the use of medical devices to look inside your colon)

There are other screening test that can be done but they are only recommended once stool sample test and visual screening procedures yield no result. A blood test is also approved by the FDA for people who do not what the stool sample test.
