What Should I Know About Screening for Colorectal Cancer

Stool Sample Test

A stool sample test can be done in your home, that way you are more comfortable. A kit is used to test your stool for blood or DNA from colorectal cancer. This is one of the easiest screening tests to have, and it is recommended to be done once every 3 years or more often if your doctor recommends.

However, a stool test may not be enough to conclude. If the test shows blood or possible DNA from cancer or a precancerous polyp, your doctor will order a colonoscopy or other type of visual screening to get more information.
