Caffeine & Carbonated drinks

Although there is not a lot of data to this effect, a 2013 survey has shown that caffeine does make symptoms worse. Caffeine is a component of tea, chocolate, soda, and coffee.
Sodas, beers, and all sorts of carbonated drinks would have adverse effects and complicate an ulcerative colitis condition. This is because the carbonation in these drinks irritate the digestive tract, cause gas, contain sugar, contain caffeine, and artificial sweeteners. All these attributes will trigger symptoms and worsen the condition.
