Can Ulcerative Colitis Be Cured?
There is no known cure for ulcerative colitis. The only way the disease can be treated is by managing and reducing the severity of the symptoms. Using drugs that reduce the occurrence of symptoms like diarrhea, joint pain, fever, and abdominal pain will go a long way in managing this disease.
In recent years, new treatment methods for ulcerative colitis have been discovered. An example is the Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitors [5] which are used to reduce inflammatory reactions in the body. JAK inhibitors however do not cure ulcerative colitis but it helps to reduce the severity of the disease.
