There are no prescribed diets for patients with ulcerative colitis. However, different foods can cause ulcerative colitis flare-ups in different persons. Generally, there are foods you should avoid that helps to decrease the risk of flare-ups.
Foods with very high fibre and fat content should be avoided. Fatty foods are known to increase the incidence of diarrhea. Taking fatty foods or foods rich in fibre can increase the incidence of flare-ups. Taking a lot of fluids is also important as it helps to replenish misplaced fluids.
There are no specific foods for people with ulcerative colitis. You just have to avoid foods that increase the incidence of flare-ups. Foods that nauseate you should be avoided at all costs.
