Causes and Factors of Diverticulosis

Aging

Diverticulosis is quite popular amongst older people, as aging is one of the most significant risk factors in the development of diverticulosis and its related complications. The older a person gets, the more at risk that person is for diverticulosis. This condition is found in 50-70% of those who are 80years and above.

Aging causes the body to gradually lose the ability to do things as well as it could when the body was younger. Old age causes the walls of the intestine to grow weaker and this leads to diverticulosis. From the ages 50 and above, it is very important to begin to watch what is being eaten and consumed. It is also important that certain activities like exercising are imputed into your lifestyle.
