4 Treatments for Inner Ear Infection

Painkillers

Labyrinthitis can be very painful. Sometimes the pain makes it difficult to move the rest of your face. You may feel it when you laugh, lie down on the affected ear, talk, or swallow. This happens because of the proximity of the ears to other organs.

If your earache is unbearable, you may use painkillers to relieve the pain [3]. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are great because they also help reduce inflammation in your labyrinth. You can purchase them at your local pharmacy or online.

Go for ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol). Do not give children or teenagers aspirin, as this can cause Reye’s syndrome. Make sure not to use more pain relievers than you need to avoid unpleasant side effects. Check the drug for dosage instructions or ask your pharmacist.
