Stages of Hearing Loss
After undergoing hearing tests, your audiologist will share your test results and explain to you what they mean. Hearing loss is usually classified by the degree of loss. The degree of loss is how loud sounds need to be for you to hear them. According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the degree of loss are in these categories:
- Normal
- Slight
- Mild
- Moderate
- Moderately Severe
- Severe
- Profound
